2025 G 580 EQ Technology
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology marks a historic turning point for one of the world's most recognizable automotive icons. While it retains the legendary, boxy silhouette that has defined the G-Class for over 45 years, this all-electric version introduces subtle aerodynamic refinements like a slightly raised hood and new A-pillar cladding to reduce wind noise. One of the most unique exterior changes is the "Design Box" on the rear door, which replaces the traditional spare tire carrier to provide a lockable storage space for charging cables and small tools.
Underneath its classic exterior lies a revolutionary powertrain featuring four individually controlled electric motors—one at each wheel. This quad-motor setup delivers a combined 579 horsepower and a massive 859 lb-ft of torque, allowing this nearly 7,000-pound SUV to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. This technology also enables mind-blowing off-road maneuvers like the "G-TURN," which allows the vehicle to spin 360 degrees in place, and "G-STEERING" for an ultra-tight turning radius on narrow trails.
Inside, the G 580 EQ is a masterclass in modern luxury and advanced technology. The cockpit features the latest MBUX infotainment system with dual 12.3-inch displays and a standard touchscreen for the first time. Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate the "Transparent Hood" feature, which uses the 360-degree camera system to show exactly what is under the front wheels. The cabin is finished in premium Nappa leather with blue contrast stitching, and standard features like the Burmester® 3D Surround Sound system and 64-color ambient lighting ensure a first-class experience.
Despite the move to electric power, the G-Wagon remains a highly practical utility vehicle. The rear cargo area offers 19.6 cubic feet of space with the seats up, expanding to over 70 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded flat. While the 116-kWh battery is tucked safely into the ladder-frame chassis, the cargo floor remains rugged and flat, supported by high-end finishing. Whether you are navigating city streets in near-silence or tackling 100% grades in the mountains, the G 580 EQ Technology proves that the future of the G-Class is more capable than ever.
