Interdisciplinary artist Melissa McGill presented A Lake Story, a slow-moving procession of more than 100 canoes propelled by over 400 canoers and paddlers, which moves in unison across Toronto's eastern waterfront, each carrying colour field paintings made with pigments sourced from Ontario Lake shoreline and activated by the wind. The two-day (Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28, 2025) on-water performance of A Lake Story articulates Lake Ontario’s colour story across the sky and water, amplifying the lake’s own voices of vibrancy, ecosystem, and community.
