It’s time for another edition of our series revelations where artist and writers take us through a deep dive into their greatest songs and albums. Where you’ll get never before shared details.

Johnny Rivers was one of the best selling artists of the 60s and 70s with 17 top 40 hits including 9 top ten hits in many different genres including
pop, folk, blues and rock. Rivers was extremely affluent from 1964-1967 hitting #2 with his remake of Chuck Berry’s song Memphis in 64, he also hit #3 with PF Sloan and Steve Barries hit Secret Agent Man from the popular British Spy series Danger Man which actually aired in the US as Secret Agent.

That same year 1966 he had a number one hit with Poor Side of town and came right back the next year with another top 3 hit, a remake of the Four tops song Baby I Need Your Lovin’ By 1977 he hadn’t had a major hit in 5 years. That’s when he recorded and released a song that fit his voice like a glove. Swaying to the Music (slow Dancing) hit the top ten on the pop and Ac charts and was written by revered songwriter Jack Tempchin.

Jack has been on our show before, He wrote Peaceful Easy Feeling for the Eagles as well co wrote Already Gone. Jack was Glenn Frey’s good friend and songwriting partner throughout his solo career.
