Polka Dots starts with the famous "contrary motion" melody line used by Hank Garland and other guitar players in the 50's. I used a Sarah Vaughan technique of wide interval jumps to target the major 3rd of the F#7. I also included Sarah's cadenza where she sings an F then F# in the final Dmaj7 chord. I borrowed a few "closed voicings" from Johnny Smith to play over the Abm in the bridge. Note: The trick with the Abm9 stretch is to start playing the lower notes before moving the index finger down to the Ab.
