NPN and PNP transistors are types of bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) that differ in their construction and current flow. NPN transistors have a layer of P-type material sandwiched between two N-type layers, while PNP transistors have a layer of N-type material between two P-type layers. The key difference lies in the majority charge carriers: NPN transistors use electrons, while PNP transistors use holes.
