Yarn: 430 m / 100 g
Hook: 4 mm
00:00 Model preview. The socks are made in US size 10 / EU size 41–42. I explain how to adjust the pattern for any size without complicated calculations.
00:29 Yarn and crochet hook.
00:36 Chain 80 + 1 turning chain. The socks are made using horizontal (side-to-side) crochet. The starting chain is usually about 10% longer than the finished fabric. This is useful to know if you want to adjust the sock height or size.
00:54 Rows 1–4: 80 slip stitches in the back loop only.
02:30 Heel length is 5–6 cm (about 2 inches). To adjust the sock size, subtract the heel length from the foot length and add 1 cm (about 0.5 inch) for the toe curve. My foot length is 27 cm (10.5 inches). 27 − 5 + 1 = 23 cm (9 inches). I measure this length on the fabric and mark it with a stitch marker.
03:26 Row 5: Start heel increases and begin shaping the toe.
04:43 Row 6: Work to the end and make a heel increase.
05:37 Row 7: Heel increase. There will be a total of 6 increases. At the toe, pull up 2 stitches from the row below.
09:20 Heel increases are finished. I’m at stitch 40. Remember your stitch number if you’re making a different size — it will be useful for heel decreases later.
11:20 Rows 16–20: Work 92 stitches for any size. For narrow or smaller feet, you can work 2 fewer rows. If so, remember to match it on the front part for symmetry.
11:27 Row 21: Start shaping the other side of the toe.
13:50 Row 26: Heel decreases (starting at stitch 40). Work 3 single crochets together (the stitch before the marker, the marked stitch, and the stitch after the marker). There will be 6 decreases in total, same as the number of increases. Continue shaping the toe.
19:30 Row 31: The heel is finished.
21:43 Rows 32–36: 80 slip stitches in the back loop only for all sizes. This is the side section of the sock.
22:12 Row 37: Begin shaping the front toe section.
26:20 Rows 48–52: 80 slip stitches in the back loop only for all sizes.
31:20 Sew the sock on the right side. Use the back loop and the foundation chain stitches.
33:12 Tighten the toe with a needle.
34:46 Done!
