Von Manstein achieved a significant victory at Kharkov, temporarily halting Soviet advances. During the Allied Bombing Campaign, the British and Americans employed area bombing strategies to weaken German morale, targeting major cities like Hamburg. Day and night bombing raids inflicted significant damage, although they sparked controversy due to civilian casualties.
