DF no.342, Drum cover of Colony by Joy Division from "Closer" album, music education resource only

This is the first time I've attempted a drum cover. I chose this song, 'Colony' by Joy Division from their 1980 studio album 'Closer' because I can't find a drum cover of it online. (If anyone knows of one, could you please let us know in comments?)
Please don't take how I play this song as gospel. I'm playing it as I hear it and it's as close as I can get at this point in time.

Key points in playing the studio album version of 'Colony' -
It's just two repeating two-bar phrases of 4/4 time. One phrase ends with a hi-hat bark/snare, the other with a tom roll (I'm using just two toms but it works over three)
Once the first vocal line come in, these phrases alternate, except...
After the guitar solo, (verse 3), "I can't see why all these complications", the tom roll phrase repeats in this line and then continues to alternate the other way around, until...
When the vocal line repeats "In this colony", stay on the hi-hat bark phrase, until...
On the 1st "God in his wisdom made you understand" line, back to the tom roll phrase, alternate
On the 4th "God in his wisdom made you understand", repeat the tom roll phrase and stay with it
After "In this colony" comes back in, there's are cymbal crashes on the ends of the phase, 4 times
When the guitar line changes, go back to the hi-hat bark phrase and alternate two more time until the song ends (on half-open hi-hat).
(In the Peel Sessions version, and others, it doesn't all happen exactly as above.)

I mixed a drumless version of the album track with the original so you can hear a little of the original drums under mine. It emerges when I drifting off. It's a bit dry with just my drums - here if you want:

I found playing this song very difficult. There are places when I'm out of time with the song but this is the best I could do. There were many takes and I haven't done any splicing from other takes to to repair bits of it - this is one continuous take. I look serious because I'm really concentrating! Maybe next year I'll redo this better, once I'm more familiar with playing the song live.

My band Condenser has recently started playing a lot of Joy Division songs. With most other songs we cover, I'll listen to the record a few times and then try to approximate the drums and most likely end up with my own version of it. With Joy Division (and also Wire's album 'Pink Flag' which we play in full) I've thought it important to get as close to the original recording as I can manage to play, which has meant having to play along to the record to learn how. I've never done much of this before (as you can tell from this clip ; - )

I've been lucky enough to have musician friends to play with and have been in bands for 42 of the last 45 years. The big difference, for a drummer, between playing playing along to a record and playing with live with musicians is that in the former you follow and the latter you lead.

I was told this at a young age by a musician I respected and for that reason I eschewed playing along to records. In retrospect, I would've progressed faster if I'd never taken that advice, but I'd be a different kind of drummer now as well.

So, I've been learning the Wire and Joy Division songs by playing to records and I'm finding that it's a great challenge and is making me better at playing. Both bands' drummers; Robert Gotobed/Gray and Stephen Morris (even more) are unique, inventive drummers with their own styles and musical vocabulary. You need to learn that vocabulary to play their bands' music, and this is challenging. I'm trying to avoid inserting my own style and vocabulary as much as possible.
