DIRECTOR SPEAK
Nrityayatri is the combination of two words, nritya or dance and yatri or pilgrim. Nrityayatri is a one-of-its-kind, non profit organization operating since January 2012 from Pune. Its objective is to create a collaborative ecosystem which supports Indian dance practices bearing traditional values and where diverse artistic expressions can flourish. Our approach is to reach out to both the classical dance fraternity as well as the classical dance loving people and provide them an environment to pursue their interests. Nrityayatri, as such, is committed to the cause of promoting Indian culture by: * Inspiring dancers to explore various forms of dance; * Promoting cultural exchange to nurture different schools and thoughts of dance; * Creating an art movement to make the artists explore, experience and express their love for dance and allied arts; and * Helping artists broaden their horizons and find a spiritual connect through their art form At Nrityayatri, we believe that this whole experience should enable artists build long-term relationships with their art finally leading to an enriched artist who would help upkeep the cultural form alive for generations to come. As John F. Kennedy once said, “If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him.”
