How to assemble a Zone 1 Sky satellite Freesat dish

This quick animation shows you how to assemble a Sky Zone 1 satellite dish to receive Sky or Freesat signals. Zone 1 refers to the area where this dish is designed to work best, the midlands and southeast of the UK, roughly south of a line from Aberystwyth through Stoke-on-Trent and Sheffield to Hull. North of this line it is recommended you use a larger Zone 2 satellite dish. The most popular use for this dish is to receive satellite TV from Astra 28.2 including Sky and Freesat but it can also work with other satellites including Eutelsat 13, Hotbird.

While this video explains how to assemble a Zone 1 satellite dish it doesn't tell you how to align it for your specific location. To do this you will need to know the Azimuth angle (the angle from North) of the satellite you want to receive signals from at your location. Secondly, you will need to know the elevation angle of the satellite and finally the skew angle of the LNB. Because the satellite is not due south of you it will appear to be twisted one way if it is to the east and the other if it is to the west, GeoSync provide a simple guide map to show you the skew angle of the LNB to align with Astra 28.2 anywhere in the UK or Ireland.
