Engine Removal - Yamaha Virago 1000 Restoration Video 3

Finally got the engine out and it went a lot easier than expected. I apologize for the month long delay but work stuff got in the way.

Still a lot of stuff needed to come off - all the electrical up front, back seat brackets, fender and more. Before you can take the engine out, all the control cables need to be removed as do all the fuel & vacuum lines, exhaust and more.

The service manual was a great resource for this job. The engine is a structural member and is part of the frame. The top of each cylinder head has a mounting bracket and those bolts come out as do the 3 bolts at the bottom aft side of the engine case. A regular old car jack is used to support the engine when the last two bolts are removed and then the engine is slowly lowered and rolled out. The drive shaft is just a flexible coupling (u-joint) with a spline and slides out easily.
