A Machine Dreams of African Print by Jim Chuchu (The Nest Collective)

Jim Chuchu (The Nest Collective) presents 'A Machine Dreams of African Print', his artistic research on computer generated African pattern. Through this project Chuchu discusses future design challenges, access to emerging technologies in the Global South, and tech-discrimination as it applies to AI and people of colour.

Presented live on Zoom (May 20th, 2021) in conversation with Ludmila Rodrigues hosting The Nest Collective at Stroom Den Haag in the context of 'Our House, your Home'.


'Our House, Your Home' is an experimental exchange program by Stroom Den Haag, based on hospitality, inviting international organisations for a mutual learning process, sharing ideas and practices. The Nest Collective (Nairobi) was the third organization to join the program, between 2020 and 2021. Due to the Covid pandemic, Stroom and the Nest Collective experimented with an online, hybrid co-learning format.

The program is supported by the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development, Mondriaan Funds and the municipality of The Hague.
