Muriel Crooke and Rosamund Bond started training dogs to support servicemen who had lost their sight in the First World War. The first four British guide dogs were trained in 1931, and within three years, we’d formed the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
As we approach 100 years since the UK’s first guide dog partnerships, find out more about our charity’s history, and our mission to continue to support the increasing number of people living with sight loss in the UK.
