In today's vocabulary lesson we learn words that tell us what time of the day it is.
mangwanani - morning 4am -12pm
masikati - afternoon 12pm-5pm
manheru - evening 4pm - 8pm
husiku - night 8pm - 4 am

mashambanzou - pre dawn (when elephants bathe) 3am - 4am
mambakwedza / chedza - dawn (first light, first glow) 4am - 5am
kweru / rukungurima - twilight (after dawn before sunrise)
runyanhiriri - first light (when wild cats roam) 5am - 6am
rugumhabeto/rupumhadova - after sunrise (when we shake off the dew) 5am - 7am
rufuramhembwe - weak sunlight (when impalas graze) 6am - 8am
mazambambira - early morning (when dassies bask) 7am - 9am
rudziyamushana - (sun basking time)8:00-10:00
rudziyakamwe - late morning (first heat)11am - 12am
rurovanhongonya - midday (when sun hits the top of the head) 11am -12am
madeukira - sundown (when the sun dips) 3pm - 5pm
rufuramhembwe - weak sunlight (when impalas graze) 4pm - 6pm
rukunzvikunzvi / madeukazuva - sunset (redish skies) 5pm - 6pm
madeko / madekwana / manhoko - early evening (after sunset) 5pm - 7pm
rukungurima / rukunguvira ruvhunzavaeni / mazeruza/ kweru - dusk twilight (when guests ask to stay/ when it seems dark) 7pm - 8pm
pakati peusiku midnight 12am - 1am
marirangwe past midnight (when leopards cough) 2am - 3am
