The Kahurangi 500 is a route which circumnavigates the Kahurangi National Park via the Old Ghost Road, Heaphy, Rameka and Porika trails. Fantastic singletrack surrounded by amazing scenery and wildlife makes it my pick for the best taste of what New Zealand has to offer in one ride.
I used this ride as my final sizeable training ride before travelling over to Kyrgyzstan to race the Silk Road Mountain Race, therefore I was pushing hard against the clock.
Out on the route was Anton McGeachen who I have to thank for the incredible photo's taken throughout the ride. I'd also like to thank Sam Greenslade for creating the animations for the video.
