Hard-Fought W | Royals Scrap for Extra-Inning Win in Detroit

The Royals sent Michael Wacha to the mound for the finale of what has been a long and challenging 10-game road trip, receiving a solid 5.1 innings of work from the veteran. The Royals jumped on the scoreboard first in the 2nd inning thanks to RBI singles from Vinnie Pasquantino and Drew Waters. The Tigers would go on to score the next 3 runs of the game, but the Royals would battle back in the 8th inning when Bobby Witt Jr. would reach on an error and Mark Canha would drive him in to tie it. The score would stay tied into extra innings, when Bobby would bring home Drew with a go-ahead sacrifice fly. Carlos Estévez, in his second inning of work, held on to the lead in the bottom of the 10th to give the Royals a much-needed win to close out the long road trip.
