“I gambled everything and lost” - those are the words of the speaker of the nakuru county assembly Susan Kihika as she looks back to when she first delved into politics, as an aspirant for the bahati parliamentary seat ahead of the March 2013 elections. But her loss did not deter her from charting her political career – as she would later floor 12 male aspirants to become the Nakuru County Assembly Speaker. On our "strength of a woman" segment, Sally Mbilu spoke to the 39-year old daughter of the late veteran politician Kihika Kimani about her experience as one of the three female county speakers in the country.
