System of a Down - Hypnotize (Re-Recorded Cover | Upgraded & Refined)

A few years ago, I released a cover of “Hypnotize” by System of a Down — a raw attempt filled with passion, but limited by my early skills as a producer. The video carried emotional weight, but the sound? It always felt like unfinished business.

Now, with time, growth, and an upgrade to Cubase 14 Pro, I’ve finally returned to finish what I started.
Everything was re-recorded from scratch:
• Drum patterns stay closer to the original pulse
• Guitars are tighter and more defined
• Vocals have more grit, layered with hidden screams and harsh backing vocals that haunt the mix like quiet ghosts — my subtle fingerprint underneath the surface.

The goal wasn’t to reinvent “Hypnotize” — it was to honor it properly, now that I had the tools and ears to do it justice.
The video got only a gentle touch of new color grading — it still holds the same soul. Only now, it finally sounds the way it always should have.

Revisiting this song was never about perfection — it was about completion. Cubase 14 didn’t change my sound, but it changed the journey: smoother workflow, solid exports, and fewer PC tantrums along the way.
