Sometimes it is difficult to find a sanded surface that is the size you want for a painting. In other instances, it just isn't feasible logistically or financially to have readymade sanded surfaces shipped to your location. The best solution is to create your own! The purpose of this video is to show the process I use to make my own sanded surfaces which I often use for soft and oil pastel paintings. The application can be applied to thick watercolour paper or hard surfaces such as wood or mdf board.
Materials needed:
Surface such as thick watercolour paper, wood,or mdf board
Gesso
Fine Pumice Powder
Acrylic paint of your choice to tint the mixture to a desired colour
Sponge roller
Painters tape
