Since the federal government shutdown began on Oct. 1, local governments, nonprofits, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians have stepped up to keep the park running—at least through Oct. 10.
We visited the Smokies to see how this temporary funding is shaping operations on the ground and how visitors are responding to the uncertainty.
