The Niagara Frontier Chapter - NRHS, In Conjunction With Norfolk Southern, Operated A Buffalo, NY to Albion, PA Round Trip Excursion Train On August 11, 1990, Over Norfolk Southern's Former Nickel Plate Mainline And The Bessemer & Lake Erie.
The Special Was Hauled By Former Norfolk & Western 2-6-6-4 Steam Locomotive #1218.
In part one of this vintage video we see scenes of the trip at Blasdell; Silver Creek; Dunkirk; Ripley, NY and Albion, PA.
The part two video features scenes of the train being wyed (with great difficulty) at Conneaut Junction for the trip back to Buffalo; running down the middle of 19th Street in Erie, PA and a closing night view at the NY - PA State Line.
For those who worked or rode this fabulous trip, its hard to imagine this all took place 30 years ago.
Sit back and enjoy mainline steam at it's best!
