Stage 4 of Rhythm Heaven Fever introduces another concept: Now there are THREE things to watch out for. You play as the boy on the bench, and the tutorial shows him meeting with the weasel in the hole in the ground. They're both waiting for their dates to appear, but they've picked kind of an unfortunate location: They're right next to where a bunch of people are playing various sports, and sometimes, a ball will come by. The boy has to kick the ball away so as not to disrupt either date going on.
Day turns to evening, and both of their girlfriends have shown up. Don't they look so sweet together? Both pairs, I mean.
Three types of balls may appear: Soccer balls (or footballs for those of you outside of the USA, Canada, Japan, and Australia), basketballs, and footballs (or American footballs for those of you outside those four countries). Each ball arrives in a different way, and you have to be alert about that.
Soccer balls are the simplest and most common type. They appear onscreen on beat 1 (beat 7 in the practice part) with a ball-bounce noise, and the boy has to kick it on beat 2 (beat 8 in the practice part).
Basketballs are tricker in that they will also appear with the same sound on beat 1, and they will still reach the boy's foot at beat 2, but they will land at beat 1.75. For practical purposes, it's just like the soccer ball, except the sound of it landing can throw you off. It throws me off, at least.
(American) Footballs are the toughest, as they have a fairly irregular pattern, and it isn't immediately obvious when to kick it. The football will arrive at beat 1, bounce at beat 1.5, bounce again at beat 2.25, and has to be kicked at beat 3. This is more complicated than it really is, since as long as you remember the football needs to bounce twice before he can kick it and you watch where the football is, you'll know when to kick it. That, and the music matches with the bounces.
Don't forget to look for a martial artist cameo in the background from Rhythm Heaven.
In any case, if you haven't felt the WarioWare influence yet, you'll feel it in Stage 5, "Remix 1," where the themes from Stages 1 through 4 are put together. You'll have to remember all the cues.
