Uganda is sinking today! Massive flooding submerged houses and cars in Kampala! People are trapped!

Heavy rainfall that lashed Kampala on Wednesday morning has brought traffic to a near standstill in several areas. Authorities are warning motorists to avoid Banda, Kyambogo, and Kinawataka (Katogo), which have become impassable due to flash floods.

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) says 6 people have been confirmed dead. KMP Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said on Wednesday, "Unfortunately, we have to confirm that 6 people have lost their lives due to the floods."

According to Owoyesigyire, 3 bodies were recovered from the Kinawataka area (we are working on having them identified), while two children, identified as Otim Kisa Eliza (3 years old) and Ochaka Chon (11 months old), tragically drowned in their home in Mulimira Zone, Bukoto. Additionally, a 35-year-old man was also recovered dead in the floods in the same area of the Mulimira zone along the Northern Bypass.
