The enchanting ancient forest surrounding the Felsenmeer (Sea of Rocks), relaxing nature sounds, and birdsong captured in late summer 2024.
The Felsenmeer in Lautertal-Reichenbach, Hesse, is an impressive collection of large, rounded quartz diorite boulders stretching about two kilometers in length and up to 100 meters in width. This formation was created through woolsack weathering and was exposed during the ice ages. The Romans once used the area for stone quarrying, as evidenced by numerous unfinished stone artifacts. Today, the Felsenmeer is a popular hiking and family destination, located within the nature reserve "Felsberg bei Reichenbach."
