Dial-A-Carol at the U of I has been taking place since the early 1960s.

I've known about this for years now. This is the first time I have ever called in.
Yes, this call really was placed on an actual landline phone using pulse dialing by way of the actual phone company. The rotary dialing phone used to dial out was a find at Curbside Discount well over ten years ago. It cleaned up very nicely.
