4.6 billion U.S. dollars, (700 billion yen). This is the total economic impact brought about by Christmas in Japan in 2019, (according to the Japan Anniversary Association). To put it in perspective, this amount could fund the construction of three Yankee Stadiums in New York.
The unique culture of Christmas in Japan, a country not in the Christian sphere, is deeply ingrained. It includes traditions such as eating KFC chicken, enjoying special Christmas cakes, and spending time with a loved one in a hotel, all of which are distinctive practices of this season in Japan.
