Constructed in 1919 by renowned architect Albert Khan on Piquette Street, the historic Fisher Body Automotive Plant #21 in Detroit, Michigan, produced "Body by Fisher" car bodies for decades before being abandoned in 1984. Originally, the plant manufactured Cadillac and Buick bodies for General Motors, but a few years after opening, Fisher officially became part of GM. Over the years, the plant produced diverse vehicles ranging from cars and buses to ambulances and limousines. During World War II, it even manufactured parts for tanks, planes, machine guns, and more. Take a look inside this iconic Detroit plant and explore its fascinating history of automotive production.
