I really love this piece, it was very dynamic, intricate, and such an elegant choreography inspired by Egyptian Golden Era dance. My teacher even let me help with the choreography creation process a bit, which was a complete honor. Collectively, we all did a lot of research on the costuming, hairstyles, poses etc., mainly focusing on the early Golden Era dancers (before the stomach cover law). I highly recommend ‪@Badriyah_bellydance‬ she has many wonderful resources (and an online museum) for more information on Golden Egyptian Era dance. Additionally, Yazmin from ‪@SerpentineVideo‬ also has good references and videos on Golden Era dance.

This was my first time dancing with live music on stage (percussionists, playing Rumba Masri (4/4), and at the very end Maksum (4/4)). Leading up to the performance, I had an injury near my spine the second day of class so I had to re-learn dance, that coupled with lack of sleep - I mess up a bit towards the end of the performance, but I love this piece too much and how the group did to not post it just because of that. Thanks to this piece, I am now also learning how to play Darbuka.
