SCREWBALL - 1973 views of 42nd Street and Times Square (with Peter Dizozza & Edward DiMaio)

Another Super 8mm Film by Peter Dizozza and Edward DiMaio,
basically showing the entering into the movie theater - there would be a cut at the 50 second mark for the movies therein, edited for songs such as "Say Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose," and "The Love You Save." ...
and then exiting and walking to the subway.

The background music in this little movie is (and has always been) Mary Hopkin singing George Martin's version of Irving Berlin's "There's No Business Like Show Business."

Thank you, Christopher Hagee, who identified the year of filming as 1973. (Christopher noted the campaign billboard for Abe Beame, who became mayor of New York City in 1974.)

This reel contains the bookend segment for the opening and ending of a proposed movie assembly entitled, Screwball.

for example, after Edward goes into the building he sees a screening of reels (shorts directed by Gerard Damiano, whose filmmaking deserves re-evaluation?) edited to specific recordings, such as the Jackson 5 recording of the song, "The Love You Save."

Another reel would be edited to a recording, "Say Has Anybody Seen My Gypsy Rose" by Tony Orlando and Dawn.

Then Edward leaves the theater and walks to the subway (back to Queens) as the Mary Hopkins/George Martin version of the Irving Berlin song plays.
