Setting up my ebay belt sander, a bosch 1276DVS.
Making the video because in 2024 there are almost no large belt sanders on the us market, and none with sanding frames. Festool makes one for 240v that costs $1300.
I have a big slab teak table and benches that deserve a finish after 24 years drying on my covered porch.
From internet seemed maybe reasonable to do it with a big belt sander, further reading suggested i get one that supports use of a sanding frame.
Sanding frame: found it on ebay but seller was unsure which model it was for. without instructions it took an hour to get it setup. It definately keeps the sander flat. I discovered that bench was not flat because sander with frame simply avoided the low spots. Makes it difficult to create a low spot.
Variable speed: the sander is variable speed but for this project i set it on high and left it there.
I started with 80 grit, intending to go to 120 grit. The teak is very hard so i switched to 50 grit and even then the going is slow.
Figuring that table is going to take 4-5 hours of sanding. Might be i should go to an even rougher grit.
Plan is to finish one bench, then the other and at that point ill have the experience to do a better job on the table.
