Here is my 1905 Pathe Chante Clair Phonograph.
This machine is playing Harry Lauder 60.461 He Took Me Up to Take Me Down.
The machine is all original except for the rubber reproducer connector which is a very good "aged" later part.
I find these machines fairly unreliable compared to the Edison machines, but are quite interesting. Its hard finding decent Salon sized cylinders to play on these machines. This one isn't bad except it has one dodgy groove in the first third which it sometimes doesn't make it past. You can see me ready to give it a prod, but in actual fact it continues under its own steam.
Made originally for a mail order company, this is an attractive looking machine and a bit different to the usual Edison Gems, standards etc.
Unlike some other machines, the mandrel isn't interchangeable so you can only play the larger diameter cylinders.
