It’s not if dealers leave AutoTrader…

It’s WHEN.

Because what we’re watching right now is the slow-motion destruction of trust between the UK’s biggest classified platform… and the very dealers who built it.

AutoTrader used to be simple:
✅ advertise cars
✅ get leads
✅ sell cars
✅ everyone wins

Now? It feels like dealers are being dragged through:

increasing costs

“features” that add friction, not sales

more complexity, less clarity

and a platform that seems obsessed with controlling the process instead of improving results.

And the bit AutoTrader never seems to understand is this:

When dealers stop believing the platform is working for them…
they stop defending it…
they stop investing in it…
and then they start looking elsewhere.

Because no dealer is paying thousands a month just to be “part of the ecosystem”.
They pay for one thing:

Cars sold. Profit made. End of story.
