Validation of diffusion microstructure (part 2) - Keynote talk
Silvia De Santis - Tissue challenges to elicit cell-specific response in the CNS and its importance for validating MRI neurobiological substrate
Biography: Dr Silvia De Santis is a physicist by training, graduated at from Sapienza University (Roma). After a PhD in diffusion MRI of complex systems, she joined Prof. D. Jones in CUBRIC (Cardiff) for a postdoc in white matter imaging, followed by a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellowship in Tel Aviv with Prof. Y. Assaf and Maastricht with Prof. A. Roebroek. Thanks to A Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant, she moved to the Institute of Neuroscience (Alicante), where she established her laboratory and is now group leader and principal investigator in several projects focusing on characterisation and validation of MRI biomarkers throughout the lifespan.
Abstract: In this talk, I will talk about recent work of the laboratory focusing on the use of different neurotoxins in animals to elicit response of neuronal and non-neuronal cells, with the aim of understanding the neurobiological substrate of several MRI biomarkers.
