作者は平面上で生きているキャラクターと三次元の空間で生きている私たちがどのようにしてリアルな形で触れ合うことが出来るかを追求してきました。 「サーモンちゃんのあじ」ではキャラクターを食べるというキャラクターと人間による濃厚なコミュニケーションを試みました。 専用のヘッドマウントディスプレイを装着し、寿司を食べようとすると手の上にサーモンちゃんが現れます。 ARの効果と寿司の食感を組み合わせることでキャラクターを食べる体験を作りだしています。 登場するのは「サーモンちゃん」というサーモンを擬人化して生まれた作者オリジナルのキャラクターです。 サーモンちゃんは食べられる為に生まれた養殖サーモンであり、寿司になって人間に食べられることを夢見ています。 今回の展示では実食はしていただけませんが、サンプルでの体験とサーモンちゃんが食べられる様子をまとめたアーカイブの展示を致します。

I have been exploring the interaction of how the cartoon characters, living in a two-dimensional world, interacts with us, living in the third-dimension. In “サーモンちゃんのあじ”, I have attempted to produce a rich communication between humans and cartoon characters, which eats other cartoon characters. When the audience installs the head-mount display on their heads, the Salmon-chan appears on their hands, about to eat sushi. I have attempted to create an experience of eating a cartoon character, by combining the effects of AR and the mouthfeel of eating sushi. Appearing in this experience is the Salmon-chan, an original character of a personified salmon. Salmon-chan has been farmed to be eaten, and dreams of being eaten by humans as a sushi. In this exhibition, we unfortunately do not have the opportunity to present real edibles, however we have sample experiences available, and are exhibiting a video archive of past events with the edibles.
