Warfare Interview: Will Poulter, Charles Melton and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai

After working together on last year's Civil War, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Alex Garland re-teamed with former US Navy SEAL Ray Mendoza to make a visceral retelling of a mission gone wrong in Ramadi, Iraq, in 2006. A24's Warfare features an ensemble of up-and-coming actors recounting the true story of the brave young men who were caught in the crossfire of war that day.

Collider's Perri Nemiroff spoke with Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs), and Charles Melton (Riverdale) about forming the bonds necessary to "tell this as literally as possible without dramatization or any fictional elements." The trio get into specifics about "creating a culture of leadership," utilizing each cast member's strengths, and which scene felt "alien" to the rest of the script for its unbridled emotion.

In the movie, Poulter, Woon-A-Tai, and Melton are joined by Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), Cosmo Jarvis (Shōgun), Kit Connor (Heartstopper), Michael Gandolfini (Daredevil: Born Again), Noah Centineo (The Recruit), and more.
