From the 1965 movie, Dr. Zhivago, directed by David Lean with music by Maurice Jarre. This film won 8 Academy Awards including Best Director and Best Original Score. Upon seeing the film at age 15, I bought the soundtrack and read the entire Boris Pasternak novel. Needless to say, I'm a fan. It was one of the first motion picture soundtrack songs I learned as a pianist. I'm playing it for you and dedicating it to celebrate the retirement of my lifelong friend, Marlene Watlington from Yanceyville, NC.
