Campylobacter (Bloody Diarrhea and Arthritis) | Complications, Diagnosis, Treatment

Campylobacter infections (causing the condition known as Campylobacteriosis) is the most common cause of food poisoning. It is also an important cause of bloody diarrhea, which can occur in nearly half of patients who are infected. Campylobacter infections can lead to other issues and complications, including increasing the risk of Reactive Arthritis in some patients and also triggering Guillain-Barre syndrome in other patients. In this lesson, we discuss how individuals get infected with this bacteria, how it causes illness, other important complications, how it’s diagnosed and how it’s treated.
