I Turned Math into Art: The Golden Ratio Wall Piece

Welcome back to my channel.

This project is my homage to The Golden Ratio, Golden Mean, Golden Section, Fibonacci spiral, Golden Ratio Spiral, Phi....... Whatever you choose to call it, it's known as the most pleasing ratio to the human eye.

It can be found everywhere in nature, from Nautilus shells, to Sunflower seed arrangement and is regarded as an incredibly pleasing ratio, which is why it's been used by humans for thousands of years from architecture to modern day credit card dimensions.

The Fibonacci sequence spiral is very similar but it differs slightly where it is a sequence of numbers that starts at 1 and continues by adding the last two numbers.
1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89.......
whereas ;

The golden Ration works on 1:1.618.
But, they both form the same logarithmic spiral that is fractal.

This Piece was designed because of my slight obsession with Phi. Maybe now it will be supressed a little. The frame is made from oak with mitred dovetails at the corners and Dominoes for the internal frame. The Parquetry Veneer work was a project all by itself has its own separate video,

The Golden Ratio Spiral is made from solid Walnut. It was cut out using Autodesk Fusion 360 Manufacturing using a Mantech Merlin CNC (not mine).

This project started 10 months ago on Autodesk Fusion 360 where I do all of my design work. The build was very interesting as its a mix of traditional woodworking joints such as mitred dovetails and marquetry / parquetry Veneering, to modern techniques using CAD and CNC milling.
