Twenty-four out of the total 28 continuous beams of the Chinese-invested Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway (HSR) in Indonesia have been successfully closed, paving the way for the work of box girder erection.

Among the 24 continuous beams, seven were closed amid the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in Indonesia since May this year, according to a statement released on Thursday by KCIC, a joint venture consortium between Chinese and Indonesian state-owned firms that runs the 142.3-km HSR.

The statement said the Chinese construction team, which is in charge of the beam closures, managed to carry out project construction while at the same time ensure COVID-19 prevention and control.

With a design speed of 350 km per hour, the high speed railway built with Chinese technology will cut the journey between Jakarta and Bandung, the capital of West Java province, from more than three hours to around 40 minutes.

中资印尼雅万高铁28条连续梁中的24条已成功合闸，为箱梁架设工作铺平了道路。

根据 KCIC 周四发布的一份声明，在 24 个连续梁中，有 7 个在印度尼西亚自今年 5 月以来第二波 COVID-19 爆发期间关闭。KCIC 是一家由中国和印度尼西亚国有企业组成的合资财团，运营着全长 142.3 公里的高铁。

声明说，负责封梁的中国施工队在开展项目建设的同时，确保了 COVID-19 的预防和控制。

这条设计时速350公里的高铁，将把雅加达至西爪哇省省会万隆的车程从3个多小时缩短到40分钟左右。
