This is a refurbished tv/dvd combi I bought from the Tesco Outlet on Ebay. It came with missing accessories which included the remote control of which I knew about before purchase.
However when I purchased a remote control specifically designed to only operate this tv, I found that when I selected the source to play a dvd it started playing a dvd that I had never put in it and this confused me at the time because I thought it was the set up programme for the region code of the dvd player. Examination of the dvd player on the back of the tv revealed that there was a dvd stuck in the player.
Now I bought this item as a "REFURBISHED" item thinking that that it had been thoroughly checked out and serviced by professional service engineers which clearly it hadn't. Now this is the second item I purchased from the TESC OUTLET on EBAY which was not fully working and the previous one was a camera costing £180 on which the flash did not work and when it was replaced I realised that some accessories that should have been included were not either. My daughter who has four children bought a "REFURBISHED" laptop computer from them found that the battery that came with it was useless which Tesco replaced with ANOTHER USELESS battery.
When I complained to Tesco about the tv/combi item they offered to repair it for me if I sent it back to them, now remember this had just been "PROFFESSIONALY REFURBISHED" by their and I quote "by our certified testing facilities where they are examined, FULLY tested, and if necessary, REFURBISHED and repaired". Now hang on a minute, I thought the junk I bought was REFURBISHED and so I refused that and was also offered a full refund. Now that I would have accepted but I also wanted £10.99 compensation for the remote control that I purchased to operate this tv especially as the item had been mis-sold to me. Tesco refused to compensate for this item.
So to those out there contemplating buying from the TESCO OUTLET on Ebay be careful, you may be lucky enough to get a bargain but there again you may not.
Now following my complaint to the Tesco Outlet on Ebay I also complained to the CEO of Tesco, a Mr Philip Clarke ([email protected]) which brought a response from another director. However at present I haven't replied that but it now seems that I will have to take Mr Clarke personally to the county court because as he is the CEO of Tesco's and is ultimately responsible for the actions of Tesco and its employee's then its only fair that he gets the summons. I also know how to issue subpoena's if necessary!
All I can add is that the America hasn't been taken in by Tesco as we in the UK have as it seems Tesco are pulling out of the big US of A.
Further to this I made complaints to Advertising Standards Authority and also the Trading Standards Authority who are the "SUPPOSED" defenders of the public for being misled by false advertising and the supplying of goods "Not fit for purpose" The advertising Authority passed the buck to the Trading Standards Authority whose only expertise is running around car boot sales and little markets looking for individuals flogging counterfeit items. When it comes to the big boys, they haven't got the guts to stand up for the little man against the giants like Tesco and Tesco know that and that's why they sell their rubbish like in the video on Ebay.
