Steps to calculate equilibrium concentrations from the equilibrium constant:
1) Balance the equation and write the equilibrium expression.
2) Tabulate all known concentrations in a rice (ice) table.
3) Use the stoichiometry of the reaction to determine the changes (x) in concentration that occur as the reaction proceeds to equilibrium and express the equilibrium concentrations.
4) Substitute the equilibrium concentrations into the equilibrium-constant expression and solve for x. (If you have an equation-solving calculator, you can solve this equation directly for x.)
5) Use the (chemically meaningful) solution to calculate the equilibrium concentrations.
