UNITY NEWS: November

United National Indian Tribal Youth (UNITY) — in conjunction with the Center for Native American Youth at the Aspen Institute — is proud to participate in the 2023 White House Tribal Youth Forum during the week of November 5, 2023, at the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. The event began with a reception, round dance, and culture jam at the National Museum of the American Indian. UNITY was represented by 11 Native youth leaders from across the country with speaking roles.

“The forum provides a unique opportunity for the Administration to hear directly from Native youth about their priorities and the incredible contributions they are making in their communities,” said Mary Kim Titla, UNITY executive director. Topics to be discussed include climate resiliency, mental health, cultural preservation, Indian Child Welfare Act, and Boarding Schools.

More than 700 Native American and Alaska Native youth (ages 12-24) and advisors are gathering in Phoenix, AZ in early February for 2024’s UNITY Midyear Conference.

The 2024 UNITY Midyear Conference will provide three days of professional leadership development, highlighting community service and advocacy for Indigenous communities.

Please join the National UNITY Council Executive Committee for the Fall 2023 Regional Native Youth Meetups.

The National UNITY Council (NUC) Executive Committee is hosting UNITY Regional Meetups. At these meet-ups, UNITY-affiliated youth councils and supporters are invited to participate, gather together, reconnect and work towards goals and project plans. These Meetups will serve as a networking opportunity as well as a brainstorming session for how to address community challenges and needs and have fun. These discussions help to create a National Youth Initiative to be presented to the National UNITY Council at the upcoming 20234 UNITY Midyear Conference.
