"Our readings center on these call narratives, people who are going about, doing what they do, and then they have this divine encounter. God comes in and changes their life," said the Rev. Leandra Lambert, preaching at Grace Church on Feb. 9.
In Isaiah 6:1-13, the prophet Isaiah hears the call and volunteers. In 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, Paul tells his conversion story from Saul to Paul. And, in the Gospel, Luke 5:1-11, Jesus instructs a group of fisherman to cast their nets one more time. They catch so many fish, their boats begin to sink, and they become disciples.
"That really is the invitation of God: In the moments when things don't make sense, we hope to go back into that place of questioning, wrestle with the uncertainty, and allow God to meet you," she added. "Be who you are. Do what you do and let God use you." Watch the sermon.
