In this video Heimler walks you through Unit 4 topic 4 of the AP Government curriculum which is all about how political events can affect a person's political ideology.
Major events have a way of shaping a person's ideology, especially if it happens in their first 25 years or so. The Silent Generation was affected by the Great Depression and World War II. Boomers contended with the Vietnam War. Millennials were affected by the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.
None of these events has the effect of making someone necessarily more or less liberal, but whatever effect these events have, is likely going to be a lasting one.
