In modern times grinding mixing machines are available but in old times cereals like Millet used to be ground with Stones.
Millet available variety in Upper Subansiri area is Ragi locally known as Tami and the flour is called Mirik .
the stones used are called Rippa and Rillak . The flat surface is called Rippa and the cylindrical stone used to grind is called Rillak .
2023 being international year of millets . The govt. is promoting consumption of Millet as a nutritional healthy food .
the AWWs under ICDS/WCD department are participating in Poshan Pakwada programme to promote Millets for nutrition .
