Did Joseph Smith Make Up The Book Of Mormon? My thoughts…

Did Joseph Smith really make up the Book of Mormon… or is it exactly what he claimed it was — an ancient record translated by the gift and power of God?

In this video I share why I personally believe the Book of Mormon is divine scripture, not 19th-century fiction. We’ll look at:

• Joseph Smith’s background: a poorly-educated 23-year-old farmer with only a few years of formal schooling
• The insane complexity he would have had to fake in just ~65 working days:
  – Detailed geography of an unknown ancient American civilization
  – Hundreds of original names (many later found to make linguistic sense in Hebrew/Egyptian/Mesoamerican contexts)

  – Over 531 pages of consistent theology and narrative with almost zero meaningful revisions after the first edition

Not to mention:

  – Intricate chiastic structures spanning dozens of pages (a Hebrew literary form virtually unknown in 1830 America)
  – Doctrines like infant baptism, the nature of the Godhead, the plan of salvation, and secret combinations that directly countered the religious debates of his day — yet he got them “right” in ways that would take decades for scholars to rediscover

And then there are the Three Witnesses — Oliver Cowdery, David Whitmer, and Martin Harris. All three men saw the angel and the plates with their own eyes. All three were later excommunicated or left the church at various points. They had every reason to expose Joseph as a fraud if it had been a lie… yet every single one of them went to their graves — even when angry or estranged from the church — reaffirming that they had seen the plates and that the Book of Mormon was true.

If it was all a hoax, why didn’t even one of them ever crack?

I don’t expect this video to convince everyone, but after looking at the evidence, the “uneducated farm boy made it all up” theory starts to look like the most miraculous part of the story.
