This video takes a look at a MacDon Westward self-propelled swather cutting canola in Manitoba.
Many growers are changing to "pod-shatter" canola and straight-cutting with a combine, rather than swathing. It saves one pass through the field.
Swathing will enhance dry-down and maybe speed up harvest in a crop that is not uniform in ripeness.
