sewerslvt - goodbye - metal remake

This was born after viewing Sewerslvt's remake of Deafheaven's Dream House. Despite most of my original music on this channel being electronic based, I am first and foremost a guitarist, a metal musician, and the Dream House remake had me thinking if I could do the same thing, but in reverse. goodbye has for a long time been my favorite track from Sewerslvt and the main part that opens up at 8:32 was where this "proof of concept" started. I just wanted to strum the chords, play the lead, and convert the amen break into blast beats. I loved the way it sounded and I decided to slowly build the rest of the song.

Fast paced drums alongside slow moving chord progressions and dynamic textures are both prevalent themes in sewerslvt and deafheaven's music. Especially in goodbye, the song structure is practically verbatim to many songs in Deafheaven, Sadness, or Panopticon's discography. goodbye takes a lot of post rock or post metal compositional decisions that you also see in blackgaze. Long build up, erupting main section, and a slow outro. I would like to particularly take note in the calm, melancholic section that takes place before the main melody from 6:32 - 8:32. The way the composition feels here is exactly the same emotions I get while listening to Deafheaven's The Pecan Tree. From here is where I was inspired to write in the drums as a 16th note groove on the hi-hats while following the original kick and snare relationship. Even the emotional weight behind both songs are a similar concept.

I also animated for the first (and most likely last) time. Go figure why it looks so bad, but I had some fun with it. Better than staring at a screencap of my programed drums I'd figure.

I have a lot more to say about this project, but I'll leave it short at that. I really hope this finds the right audience. It makes me happy to know Cynthoni is a fan of Deafheaven.

from 4:54 to 5:36 the lead part audio is recorded at half speed, which is why it looks like I'm playing an octave down.
