Man Spends Months Building the Perfect Van—The Results Are Epic ! { By @murattuncer‬ }

In this episode of TTI, we follow an incredible start-to-finish DIY campervan conversion by the talented Murat Tuncer—a master of turning a plain cargo van into a fully functional rolling home. If you’ve ever dreamed of life on the road, this transformation is the ultimate inspiration.

The build kicks off with a total gut job. Everything inside the van—seats, flooring, trim—is removed to expose the bare metal frame. The shell is cleaned, rust is treated, and structural weak spots are reinforced. Once prepped, the van is coated with rust-proof paint to protect it from future wear and tear.

Next, precision-cut windows and a skylight are installed, sealed with weatherproof adhesive and fitted with locking mechanisms and gas strut arms for airflow. Then come the solar panels, securely mounted to the roof and wired for off-grid power, feeding into a battery and charge controller setup.

Inside, a custom wooden framework is constructed to support insulation, cladding, and furniture. Closed-cell spray foam insulation is applied to seal out drafts and regulate interior temperature, while rigid XPS boards and a sturdy plywood subfloor create a strong foundation, finished with sleek, durable laminate planks. Even the stairs get matching flooring and flexible sealant to keep moisture and dust at bay.

From there, the transformation takes a homey turn with interior cladding—tongue-and-groove wood panels that bring warmth and hide all the plumbing, wiring, and insulation. Everything from walls to van doors is meticulously clad and varnished for a professional finish and long-term durability.

The rear and side doors are also insulated and finished to match the cabin. This attention to detail creates a cozy, energy-efficient environment perfect for any weather.

The real magic begins as Murat builds the interior furniture by hand—starting with a bed platform that doubles as storage, then crafting benches, drawers, and even a custom fridge frame. Overhead cabinets maximize space, while the kitchen features a durable wood counter, stainless steel sink, and a two-burner stove.

Water tanks are installed beneath the van, connected with food-safe tubing and powered by a pressurized pump for smooth water delivery. Even the gas lines are thoughtfully routed with safety in mind.

The result? A compact but incredibly livable space—complete with fold-out tables, comfy cushions, and a smart dining area perfect for working, eating, or relaxing.

This build isn’t just about saving money—it’s about gaining skills, embracing sustainability, and creating a space that’s truly your own. Murat’s campervan is proof that with patience and planning, anyone can turn a simple van into a dream home on wheels.
