2 Module Drum Machine for Eurorack? – Omnitone Rhytmi & Beatsi

Omnitone continues to make some cool stuff here in Canada. This time, I’m showing off their two new drum modules: Rhythmi and Beatsi. Think of Rhythmi as a more deterministic Mutable Instrument Grids. It’s got lots of outs, CV even that is pentatonic minor for toms and yeah, so many beats. Beatsi is Omnitone’s love letter to modular drums and it definitely comes through. I’m fairly partial to my samples but goodness some of the tones coming out of that especially with a bit of processing on the end of drive or limiting, it was great. The modules can link up together in the back for some thoughtful normalling but hey, don’t forget to break that normalling to try out even more beats by swapping outputs to destinations. One of my favourite things for Rhythmi is that you can control the density and synco of each of the parameters meaning you can add a little bit of a snare or a lot more of a snare. The key is really just finding a base beat that you want to stick with and then you can just change up densities, energy and evolve and even length for a lot of fun. If you’re looking for something compact to do rhythm sequencing and has pretty lights, Rhythmi is worth a shot.
